We're out on the skinny tires this weekend, soaking in the awfully lovely fall foliage in west county. Looks like there might be rain in the forecast for Saturday, but we're keeping our fingers crossed...
Jill's leading this time 'round, and has put together a loop that's just shy of 17 miles, with a couple good climbs--including Harrison Grade. Check it out here. Meet 9:30am Saturday at the Willow Wood in Graton (which is most excellently located right off the bike path, and perfect for riding to the start). RSVPs appreciated. Rain cancels.

Kristy has missed riding with the HillJillys so much that she's going to lead back-to-back rides: this week, it's a mountain outing in Annadel. Weather is looking good for this weekend, and the trails are nice and tacky--and not too muddy yet. (Good chance that Kim will join up for at least part of this one, too!) RSVPs appreciated!

Feelin' sparky? Wanna head down to the SF Bike Expo afterwards and check out Bike Monkey's Cross Palace? It'll be awesome, I swear.

HillJillys Road Ride:
Saturday, October 23rd, 9:30am
We're back! Yup, we've been off for a couple of weeks--working up to the GranFondo, and then recovering from it... but very much looking forward to getting back out with the HillJillys!
Figures that we get back on track just in time for the first big storm of the season to hit. Currently, there's rain in the forecast for this weekend, but we're going to cross our fingers and plan a ride anyhow. Meet Saturday, Oct 23rd, 9:30am, at the Flying Goat in Healdsburg. If the weather cooperates, Katie will lead us out on a Dry Creek loop; if it doesn't, rain cancels. RSVPs appreciated!
(If you're feeling the call of cyclocross instead of a road ride? Sonoma County cross season starts on Saturday, too: www.monkeycross.com.)

Thank goodness it won't be quite as hot this weekend as it was last Saturday: Shannon's got a ride planned with oodles of climbing...
Meet Saturday, June 19th at 9:30am in Graton, at the Willow Wood Market. We'll head to Occidental and take Coleman Valley Road out to the coast (a beautiful climb), then head south on Hwy 1 to Bay Hill Road in Bodega (more climbing) to Jonive to Cherry Ridge back to Graton. It's about 35 miles (with a fair bit of climbing), so expect to be out 3-4 hours. RSVPs appreciated.
Everyone welcome, and no one left behind--but this one is a bit longer and harder than some other HillJillys rides, so you'll have more fun if you've got a bit of fitness in those legs.
Did I mention there's climbing? :) Check out the route here.

No HillJillys Ride This Week (Instead: Maybe Boggs, or SCBC Street Skills?)
Given all the rain we've had this week, we'll be skipping our regularly scheduled MTB ride on Saturday. Be kind to the trails in Annadel!
Other cycling opportunities this weekend? Go on and get out for a road spin during what looks like a possible window of clear weather on Saturday, or head up to Cobb Mountain andheckle cheer on the Boggs V 8-Hour mountain bike racers. Bring the kids for the easter egg hunt--and there are oodles of trails in the forest that aren't part of the course.
And looks like there's also still space in the SCBC's Saturday Street Skills Class:

HillJillys MTB Ride:
Saturday, March 27th, 9:30am
A clear sign that spring has sprung: the HillJillys are doubling up this weekend. In addition to Jill's road ride out of Helen Putnam Park, Kristy will lead a mountain bike ride in Annadel State Park. No matter what kind of riding you want to do on Saturday, we got you covered.
Meet Saturday, March 27th, 9:30am on Channel Drive, at the bottom of Cobblestone. RSVPs appreciated. The know-how to go now: beginner-friendly, everyone welcome, and no one left behind. (Rain cancels.)

HillJillys Road Ride:
Saturday, March 27th, 9:30am
We're moving down south for this week's HillJillys ride, and heading out on the road from Helen Putnam Park in Petaluma. Meet on Saturday at 9:30am.
Appropriately enough, Jill will lead Saturday's HillJillys ride--it's her first time out as ride leader, and she's super excited. It'll be about 22 miles, with rolling hills and a couple of not-too-steep climbs. RSVPs appreciated. Note: like all our regional parks, there's a fee to park at Helen Putnam. Bring $6, or ride to the start!
These are no-drop rides: beginner-friendly, everyone welcome, and no one left behind! (Rain cancels.)

HillJillys MTB Ride:
Boggs! Saturday, March 20th, 10:00am
In preparation for Boggs V the first weekend of April, Cheryl is leading a HillJillys preride up at Cobb Mountain this weekend. If you've never tasted the sweet singletrack that crisscrosses the Boggs State Demonstration Forest, you're in for a real treat.
Carpooling is in order for this lil' adventure, so RSVPs are a good idea for putting together rideshares. The group will meet in the first Boggs parking area on Saturday, March 20th, for a 10am ride start (and carpools will prolly meet around 8:30am in the Sonoma County environs). While all HillJillys rides are no-drop and Boggs is pretty gentle for the newbies, the pace and amount of singletrack will make this one an intermediate level ride. Be sure you're comfortable on the sweet & narrow and have at least a wee bit of fitness under your belt. And Boggs is a fair bit higher up, so be prepared for cooler temperatures.

HillJillys Road Ride:
Saturday, March 13th, 9:30am
Spring is in the air, fo' sho'! Our bucolic backroads are calling, as is our fave bakery stop in Freestone. Pull out the skinny tires for a lil' west county road excursion.
Meet at the Wild Flour Bakery in Freestone on Saturday, March 13th, at 9:30am. (Come early with some cash for one of their tasty scones.) Kate will lead us out towards Occidental, Graton, and then back via Harrison Grade. The goal is fun, not speed--but be prepared for a steep climb up Harrison Grade. RSVPs appreciated.

HillJillys Road Ride:
Saturday, February 27th, 9:30am
The weather is pretty topsy-turvy this week: patches of blue sky and bright sun quickly alternating with heavy rain. Fingers crossed that we get the former on Saturday for our HillJillys road excursion.
Kara will lead out a relatively flat road loop from the Flying Goat in Santa Rosa. It'll head up to Windsor via Fulton, Olivet, and Mark West and come out to about 30 miles. RSVPs appreciated.
As usual, beginner-friendly, everyone welcome, and no one left behind... and rain cancels!

Trying again, even though the weather forecast is looking dodgy... but, oh my, would it ever be nice to get back out on our mountain bikes.
So, here we go: meet in Annadel on Channel Drive at the bottom of Cobblestone on Saturday, 9:30am. Twyla's been scouting the park and will avoid the muddiest of the trails. RSVPs appreciated.

HillJillys MTB Ride:
Saturday, February 6th, 9:30am
We're super stoked to get back out on our mountain bikes after a long weather-imposed hiatus! (That is, if the forecasted rain doesn't materialize...) We'll head out to see our old friend Annadel, but Shannon will lead us from the Lawndale trailhead this time 'round.
Meet on Saturday, February 6th at 9:30am at the bottom of Lawndale. The know-how to go now: beginner-friendly, everyone welcome, and no one left behind. (Rain cancels.) RSVPs appreciated!
Directions: The Lawndale trailhead is located just northwest of Kenwood on Hwy 12. From Santa Rosa continue on Hwy 12 for 6.6 miles past the Montgomery Drive turn-off. Go right on Lawndale Road and follow it 1.2 miles to the trailhead parking area. If you make it to Kenwood, you went too far!

HillJillys Road Ride:
Saturday, January 23rd, 9:30am
And we interrupt our regularly scheduled program: the six inches of rain Santa Rosa has seen in the last week has made for some pretty soggy trails. We'll do them right and stay on the road this weekend.
Meet Saturday at 9:30 at the Flying Goat in Healdsburg for a paved spin. Kristy is still deciding the route, but there are lots of great options out of the 'burg... RSVPs appreciated!

No HillJillys Ride This Week
Alas and alack, no ride leader has turned up for this week's road outing, so we'll be skipping Saturday's ride. (Looks like it might rain, anyhow, so possibly not a huge loss...)
Back on track next week for a mountain bike ride!
